Chad Willms, Director of Land and Environmental Planning, South Alberta Environment & Protected Areas

Chad Willms serves on the Crown Managers Partnership Steering Committee in his current role as the Director of Land and Environmental Planning in southern Alberta. He has worked with Alberta Environment and Protected Areas for over 10 years on different aspects of land use planning including water planning, caribou range planning, and broad-scale regional planning. His current role is focused on the development of sub-regional land use plans in southern Alberta’s eastern slopes. This is the core area of Alberta’s Crown of the Continent ecosystem. Chad has had a long interest in managing for ecosystem functions within working landscapes. This led him to graduate studies focused on understanding riparian ecosystems along regulated rivers. When not working, Chad enjoys exploring the Rocky Mountains and boreal lakes with his family.
