Kimberly Pearson, Ecosystem Scientist, Waterton Lakes National Park

Kim has been a member of the CMP Steering Committee since 2019. She has spent most of her life within Siksikaitsitapi (Blackfoot) territory and Treaty 7 lands, including a career focused on building land-based collaborations in the Waterton area since 1997. She is Waterton Lakes National Park’s Nature Legacy Ecosystem Scientist, a role in which she advances innovative initiatives supporting Indigenous-led and landscape-scale conservation efforts. Kim has also led grassland and species at risk conservation and restoration, and post-wildfire ecology initiatives with Parks Canada. She spent ten years collaborating in caring for the land with the Waterton Park Front ranching community and the Nature Conservancy of Canada, and has supported the land-based conservation and youth education efforts of the Waterton Biosphere Region in various board-related roles since 2009.
