Tony Harwood is a member of the Blackfeet Tribes and started his fire management career in 1970 as an emergency fire fighter at the Blackfeet Indian Agency. Tony received a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Montana in 1975. In 1979 he started his forestry and fire management career for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CS&KT) as a Timber Sales Officer and progressed to positions as the agency Prescribed Fire Specialist and Fire Program Manager. Tony was also the forestry and fire representative in the development of the CS&KT Climate Change Strategic Plan, the fire science advisor to the award-winning interactive DVD ‘Fire on the Land’, and as the Inter-Tribal Timber Council representative for the National Wildland Fire Cohesive Strategy. In 2016 Tony retired from tribal service and is presently a Land Resource Consultant in Polson, Montana.
